Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC) is one of Birmingham’s leading independent resources. It is the key voluntary sector support organisation in Birmingham and one of the largest such bodies in the UK.
Our focus can be encapsulated in three words - local, community and action.
We work to:
- Provide local people with volunteering opportunities to allow them to make a positive difference to their communities
- Provide information, guidance and resources to voluntary and community organisations to help them to thrive for the benefit of local residents
- Champion the voluntary sector as an influential force for positive change
We co-ordinate and represent Birmingham’s charitable sector, ensuring that grassroots organisations, which have a unique insight into the realities of everyday living in the city, are represented at and scrutinise decision-making forums
The voluntary sector invests in communities. It provides services for local people that are not available elsewhere and it is capable of conducting work that often cannot be replicated by others.
We ensure that these groups have access to continual professional development, to allow them to improve, compete for work and display their rare talents in today’s competitive environment.
In short, BVSC has an extensive history of helping to deliver the government’s desired localism agenda. Our work makes a real difference.
In challenging economic times we are here to support and champion the people who live, work and depend on Birmingham
